Keeping a Daily Schedule

It’s very important to create a schedule on your journey of recovery.  You may find one of your triggers to acting out sexually was unstructured time.  This is why it’s important to schedule your free time too.

Many individuals like to use their phones and computers for their scheduling system or many don’t operate from a schedule. I think the most effective way to create and maintain a schedule is to purchase a large schedule book that lists each day by the hour.

I think it’s important to develop a habit of scheduling your self-care first.  Schedule your exercise, therapy, journaling, homework, vacations and etc.  Then schedule your work, including breaks, meals and travel time.  Schedule your fellowship meetings and time with family.

I encourage you to look at your schedule book in the morning before you start your day, so you know your agenda for the day. In addition, I think it’s important to make a list of things you need to get done for the day, prioritizing by importance just in case you need to table the activity to the next day.  Once you develop a habit with your schedule, you’re more than welcome to transfer it to a computer system with reminders.  For the meantime, I encourage you to carry your schedule book for 30 days until it’s a habit.
